Skill contests seem to go against this principle, since you could enter dozens of simple contests in the time it takes to compose a fantastic essay or capture a beautiful photo. However, entering contests of skill can definitely be worthwhile.

Most people who enter contests concentrate on the ones that can be entered quickly. This is especially true when it comes to high value contests, which can have hundreds of thousands of entries by the time the end date rolls around.
